Are you tracking your home office expenses?

Jun 1, 2023 | Bookkeeping, Business, Finance, Personal

The ATO teaches us that you can claim a fixed rate of 52 cents for each hour you work from home. The rate includes the additional running expenses you incur: the decline in value of home office furniture and furnishings – for example, a desk. electricity and gas (energy expenses) for heating, cooling, and lighting. What about the monitor you brought, the carry bag to transport your laptop in and out of the office? And, let’s not forget about all that extra stationery, post-its, and pens cost money too you know.

We tend to forget about these, but the costs do stack up and are definitely worth tracking your home office expenses.
